Winter Gathering Mata Garuda Amerika Serikat & Kanada 2025

Mata Garuda Amerika Serikat & Kanada held a Winter Gathering on December 29, 2025, at the Consulate General of the Republic of Indonesia (KJRI) in New York City. The event welcomed current awardees studying at universities in the US and Canada, alums, and visiting awardees to connect and expand their networks. The event was inspired by the enthusiasm of Indonesian students across the US and Canada who often visit New York City during Christmas and New Year’s Eve. MGA saw this as an ideal opportunity to bring people together, strengthen the community, and expand networks across various fields and educational levels, including both master's and doctoral students. The event also aimed to foster a sense of belonging and nurture a strong support system. Approximately seventy participants attended, including master's and doctoral awardees, the Consul General of the Republic of Indonesia in New York, Bapak Winanto Adi, and representatives from Indonesia Lighthouse. Participants engaged in structured networking through rotating seating arrangements and team-based games. Each round table accommodated 7 to 8 people, and discussion prompts encouraged interaction with new peers. Team games further promoted collaboration and teamwork. The event concluded with lunch and informal networking. The warm, collaborative atmosphere of the Winter Gathering provided a space for sharing experiences, academic discussions, and insights into self-development. The multidisciplinary interactions, supported by diverse educational backgrounds and regions, encouraged participants to form new collaborations and strengthen their commitment to contributing to Indonesia. Through the Winter Gathering, Mata Garuda Amerika Serikat & Kanada reaffirmed the LPPD awardee community's commitment to maintaining fellowship, strengthening networks, and nurturing the spirit of contributing to Indonesia's development, even from abroad.
